Or-Yah started dancing at the age of 3,
and since then she has been exploring her body and its
abilities using various kinds of body and body-mind
techniques.
She was trained in Bikurey Haitim and danced with the Rishon
Dance Company in Israel, where she completed her Pilates
studies. At the age 17, Or-Yah won first place in a
choreography competition with her dance 'Mourning'.
Following her dream to combine professional dancing and
choreography with teaching, she moved to New York and become
a full time student at the Professional Trainee Program at
the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. There she
had the privilege of working with leading teachers such as
Pearl Lang, Dudley Williams, Alessandra Prosperi, Joyce
Herring and Susan Kikuchi.
After graduation, Or-Yah continued her studies at Peridance,
under the Artistic Director Igal Perry, completed her yoga
studies at the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in NewYork, and
continued exploring her body with the Gyrotonic Technique,
which she studied with Julio Horvath, the founder of
Gyrotonic.
While in New York, Or-Yah participated in dance projects and
performed with the Tsofia Gal Dance Theatre, the Urban
Junction Art Project and Mare Nostrum Elements. She also
performed her own choreography in various projects including
HATCH of Jennifer Muller, The Field and NYU.
Or-Yah uses her deep knowledge of various dance and
body-mind techniques to create well-structured and organized
classes, emphasizing technique and art and incorporating
flowing movement, breathing work, and fun. For the past 8
years, she has been teaching in New York, Tel-Aviv and
Bangkok.
